Common questions about Judge My Vault

Vault Management

What's the "Export to DIM" feature?

The Export to DIM feature generates a search query compatible with Destiny Item Manager (DIM) to help you find specific weapons in your vault.

How it works:

1. Click the "Export to DIM" button on your vault page
2. Configure your export options: choose the number of items, score type (PVE/PVP), sort order (lowest or highest rated), rarity tier, and weapon slot
3. Click "Generate Query" to create your DIM search string
4. Copy the query and paste it into DIM's search bar

This is especially useful for vault cleaning — export your 10 lowest-rated legendary weapons, paste the query into DIM, and you'll see exactly which weapons the community thinks you should dismantle!

What happens when I click on a weapon card?

Clicking anywhere on a weapon card (except on perks or vote buttons) copies that weapon's unique instance ID to your clipboard in DIM search format: id:1234567890

You can paste this directly into DIM's search bar to instantly locate that specific weapon in your inventory. This is handy when you want to inspect a weapon's full details, move it between characters, or tag it in DIM.

What happens to votes when I refresh my vault?

Votes are preserved! When you sync your vault, we match weapons by their unique instance ID. Weapons that are still in your vault keep all their existing votes. Only weapons you've dismantled or moved out will lose their votes.

Why don't I see my armor?

Judge My Vault currently focuses on weapons only. Armor rolls are more subjective and depend heavily on builds, so we've kept the scope limited for now. This may change in the future!

How often should I sync my vault?

Whenever you want! Most players sync after a big loot session (raid, Trials weekend, etc.) or when they've made significant changes to their collection. There's no penalty for syncing frequently.

Voting & Scores

Do the vote rankings update automatically?

Yes! Votes update in real-time. When someone votes on a weapon in your vault, you'll see the score change immediately without refreshing the page (as long as you have the page open).

If you enable the "Live" toggle next to the sort dropdown, cards will even re-sort themselves automatically as votes come in.

What happens when I refresh a vault page?

The page reloads with the latest vote counts from the database. Your filters and sort preferences will reset to defaults. Any votes you've cast are preserved.

Can I change my vote?

Yes, but there's a short cooldown (10 seconds) between vote changes on the same weapon. This prevents accidental double-clicks and vote manipulation.

What's the difference between votes and "God Roll"?

Votes (👍/👎) are general sentiment - is this roll good or bad for PVE/PVP?

God Roll (★) is reserved for truly perfect or near-perfect rolls that you'd never shard. Use this sparingly for exceptional weapons!

Are votes anonymous?

Yes. We track votes by a hash of your IP address (for anonymous users) or your user ID (if logged in), but this information is never displayed publicly. No one can see who voted on what.

Technical

Why does the sync take a while?

We're fetching your full inventory from Bungie's API, then looking up detailed information for each weapon (perks, stats, masterwork, etc.) from the game's manifest database. This typically takes 10-30 seconds depending on how many weapons you have.

The site isn't loading / I'm getting errors

Try these steps:

1. Refresh the page
2. Clear your browser cache
3. Check if Bungie's API is having issues at @BungieHelp
4. Try again in a few minutes

Authentication & Security

Why do I need to re-authenticate with Bungie every time I sync my vault?

For your security. We intentionally don't store your Bungie authentication tokens. This means even if our database were somehow compromised, your Bungie account credentials would never be at risk.

The trade-off is a quick re-authentication (just 2 clicks if you're already logged into Bungie.net) when you want to refresh your vault. Since most players only sync once a day at most, we think this is a worthwhile trade for better security.

What data does Judge My Vault access from my Bungie account?

We request read-only access to your Destiny 2 inventory. Specifically:

• Your vault contents (weapons only)
• Your character inventories (weapons only)
• Your Bungie display name

We cannot modify your inventory, dismantle items, make purchases, or access any other account data like email or payment information.

Can I delete my data?

Yes! If you're logged in, visit your vault page and click the "Delete Vault" button. This permanently removes your vault snapshot and all associated votes from our database.
